11. joulukirjoja / Christmas books

Meillä luetaan paljon kirjoja. Nyt joulun aikaan olemme tutustuneet iltakirjoissa joulunviettoon. Pojan ja vanhempienkin suosikkeja ovat Astrid Lindgrenin ja Ilon Wiklandin Melukylän joulu, sekä Mauri Kunnaksen 12 lahjaa joulupukille.

We read a lot. With Christmas coming we have been reading in the evening books about Christmas. Two of our favorites are

Astrid Lindgrens and Ilon Wiklands Christmas in Noisy Village(Bullerby) and also Twelve Gifts for Santa Claus by Mauri Kunnas.

10. hattuja / hats

Eilen mieheni väitteli tohtoriksi.

Olen hyvin ylpeä hänestä.

My husband did his dissertation yesterday.

I am very proud of him.

Hän ei saanut tohtorin hattuaan vielä,

mutta hänen ystävänsä antoivat tämän inversio-hatun.

He didn´t get his doctors hat yet,

but his friends gave him this inverse hat.

8. piparit / ginger bread cookies

Teimme itse taikinan.

Salaisuus on lisätä piparimausteeseen pomeranssinkuorta.

We made our own dough.

The secret is to ad some orange peel to the ginger bread spices.

Tänäkin vuonna meillä oli apuna Pojan vauva-aikaisia kavereita. Lapsilla oli hauskaa. Taikinaa meni kyllä suuret määrät suuhun eikä pellille.

Like last year we had some help in baking from my sons friends from his baby time. Children enjoyed baking, even though large amount of the dough ended up in little mouths instead of the metal sheet.

6. isän huuliharppu / my dads harmonica

Itsenäisyyspäivä tuo mieleen pappani. Lähdin varastoon etsimään kuvaa hänestä. Löysin kuvan jossa ovat pappa, mummo, isä, tätini ja serkkuni. Laitoin kuvan esille muiden tärkeiden kuvieni joukkoon. Varastosta löysin myös isäni vanhan huuliharpun. Poika soittaa innoissaan huuliharppua.

Independens day makes me think of my grandpa. I went to our storage to look for a picture of him. I found a picture: There is grandpa, grandma, my father, my aunt and my cousin. I put the picture on a self with my other important pictures. From the storage I found and old harmonica. It had belonged to my father. My son was very excited to play the harmonica.
